I was wondering where next year’s worlds will be held. Last year being in California, this year in Dallas, where will it be next year? I hope that they keep moving it around every year because it gives kids who dont get the oppurtunity to travel a chance to travel to places they haven’t been. I would hope that Vex would move it to a different state each year, or at least a different city if they want to stay in Texas, like possible Houston or San Antonio. These are just my thoughts, what does everyone else think?
I think it will be in Dallas.
Dallas seems to make a lot of sense, because it is where IFI is headquartered, so they can get a lot of fields, and it is in the middle of where a lot of teams are (except for China and Hawaii, but I think that they are going to have to travel to the championships anywhere that it is likely to be).
There was a rumor floating around the Dallas event that it would be held in Orlando, Florida. That would be AWESOME, although dallas was an amazing venue too.
I would expect they would stay in Dallas. However if they could somehow find a place where it’s cheap to get a flight to from anywhere in the country that would be nice.
I’m hoping for a place that’s within a day or so drive from the northwest. I don’t think security at customs liked me very much since I got searched both on the way to Dallas and on the way back. If it moves though, I’m hoping to keep it around the same area since the price for the flight wasn’t excessive.
I’m thinking either Seattle or Vancouver would be perfect, right?
What did the people who went to Omaha and Denver think of Omaha? I know it’s central enough to host the College World Series every year.
Indeed. We’ve both got some nice sporting arenas that, for the most part, sit unused at the end of April. Vancouver’s got a billion-dollar convention centre that will need some usage after the olympics next year =)
i like teh set up that was at omaha during teh nationals comp
there was plenty of room there
it was in an areana
What about Detroit??? the city could use a tournament like that…
The contest seemed to run pretty well in Dallas. I don’t see it moving next year. Sounded like there was plenty of room, so with the VEX net for next year, it will be easier to run 4 divisions, rather than 2.
How about Cali, where the weather doesn’t suck. Felt like I was breathing through a straw in Dallas. Also, it has an ideal location much like the Dallas Convention Center, i.e. the Los Angeles Convention center.
I’m morally certain it will be in Dallas again, but if you were looking for a “gateway to the Pacific Rim” site, I’d rather see it at the Anaheim Convention Center complex than in Los Angeles. Anaheim has a zillion hotels, a great convention center complex with an arena for showcase events, and Disneyland is across the street. There are also lots of cheap places in the neighborhood to get food, and the weather is terrific in the Spring. Yep, I’d go to Anaheim.
THis would be the same reason that FIRST won’t hold a Championship contest in California. It would be too far the teams in the east to travel. They would want to keep the site in the middle of the country.
Me personally, would like to see it in Houston. The George R. Brown convention center is large enough to hold multiple events at the same time. Plus I could go home and sleep in my own bed at night.
Toronto anyone lol?
Florida would be awesome. Being from Wisconsin, I just want it to be somewhere warm and sunny. Around this time of year we never know what the weather is going to be like.
Why not do it in New Zealand and save us thes endless flights and jet lag?
New Zealand would be a great experience. But then you would have 270 teams making that fun trip.
Charter a 747…
That would be sooooo awesome.
