Why are people so rude

I’m new i asked a few questions and got flamed why tho its not life or death

Because the majority of questions asked by new people have been asked and answered many times, it annoys some people to have to answer the same thing over and over again when someone could have just searched and got the answer.

(Also, you probably should have put this in the Chit-Chat / Rumor Mill because it is not specifically talking about IQ)

Or you could just ignore it if you don’t want to answer it again

Or you could just leave and don’t come back if you think people here are rude

What do you interpret as rude? I looked at all your posts, and I don’t think any of the replies to it were very rude, it was people just trying to help…

Welcome to the forum!

Yes
People can be rude, but trust me that most people on VEXForum are nice and here to help if you ever need any. Honestly, there’s a difference between criticism and disrespect. To expect that everything is going to come out in sunshine and rainbows is merely a fantasy in a place with hundreds of thousands of people of different backgrounds and places. You cannot change the millions of people present, but you can change your perspective of the reality of things.

I had my own times where I felt like the forum or discord for VRC has some rude and arrogant people, but don’t think too much about it because for the most part rude people want attention. Just be chill and ask questions if you need help, as the forum should be treated as a resource to assist you.

I will warn you. If you use light mode maybe never tell anyone that. You will get flamed by a big majority. I can keep my cool until, A I see chain drivetrains B light mode people.

Also don’t tell people if you’re a clawbot, or if you forgot bearing flats on your robot (cough @Landen_Ampersand I’m never letting you live this down lmao).

Welcome to the forums.

You have in your one day here, created three posts.

  1. Asking why you can’t buy “cheaper but worse” parts from non-vex sources.
  2. Asking why tournaments are so long and “sourly they can shorten it”
  3. Why are people so rude and flaming you even “tho its not life or death”?

Here is some advice to help you enjoy your time here a little better. The forum isn’t a text thread with your friends, you will get a lot higher quality interactions with people when you give complete information and use proper grammar in your posts. Think of it as a starter course on how to converse professionally with others. It will pay dividends in learning how to better interact with teammates/alliance partners/teachers/judges/referees/your future employer.

You will also rarely get a direct black and white answer from forum users when you ask things that are found in the game manual. For example, what parts you can and can not buy from non-vex sources is found in the game manual. Unless you have clearly demonstrated you have read the rule and have some question about a nuance in the rule, most users will simply direct you to the game manual.

You are also expected to search the forum for answers that have been hashed and rehashed several times in the past. At this late stage in the season, there isn’t a lot of ground to plow that hasn’t already been plowed. If you are asking questions that have been asked before, many will direct you to read those old posts.

Finally, for the sake of all of us and DRow’s recategorization limits, please make sure to post your topics in the proper forum. This post and the one about tournament length belongs in Chit Chat, and your first post belongs in V5/VRC, not in Vex IQ.

Where you go from here is up to you. You can take my advise as “more rude flaming” or you can try to take it to heart and apply it to your future forum usage.

Hi, welcome to the forum. You’ve been here ~24 hours and have started three different topics.

You got an answers giving the suggestion around cost, how to save some money and a suggestion to read the rules. This is an often discussed topic, but mostly around “Why is the brain a million dollars and I can buy a Raspberry Pi Zero only $5”

I replied back assuming you wanted to say surely instead of sourly. My first few lines told you the factors in why events can go slowly. I added how to do an IQ event in the shortest possible time and gave an example of how we do events with 4 fields to make it go faster.

I didn’t respond since it’s a chit chat. But you should know that the judges do the best they can in giving awards out. While you think you should have " the ones deserved" it’s quite possible that another team deserved it more.

In most case you do get sent to the rules. Lots of cases you get asked “did you do a search to find prior responses to a similar post?” I know that when I start new post, the right hand window is full of similar things that may have been asked. But people are more or less trying to be helpful.

Maybe if your first posts had been more about robotics and less flame (high cost., slow events, bad judging) you would have gotten less flame back?

But anyway, welcome to the forum!

use the search button, if you cant find what you are looking for, you can ask the question, but no one has been “rude” to you. they took time out of their day to help you, so you could be considered the rude one here.

Well sorry its not like i knew anything like that or meant it. Imma start a new account

You don’t need to start a new account just maybe try to look if your topics have been discussed before, try not to make as controversial comments (like the one on chit chat), and know that you might be interpreting the post wrong

You didn’t need to do that. Your “new” account is linked back to the “old” account posts.
