Hey there! We are in Texas Region 5. In looking through the remaining events in Texas R5 here, I noticed only 4 before the state championship (“regional championship”… SAME THING ). However, this event is in region 5, and has teams going to it, and has awards that qualify for the state championship… why doesn’t it show up on the main list of R5 events?
I’m mainly interested because I’m trying to figure out how much of a chance one of my sister teams (1082H) has of getting into state through the region skills list. Depending on how many of the remaining state slots go to tournament awards, it could be very different.
In addition, when I select “Invitational” as a parameter on the left, the Championship stays visible but all the others go away. And the tournament in question does not show up.
If that event has spots for the regional championship then I suspect its skills results should count towards qualifying on skills.
I suspect the regional championship appears on the list while being invitational is simply because it is the regional championship. It would be a bit strange if that didn’t show on the list.
On the other hand, the teams that attend a non-championship invitational event are decided by the organiser. They get to choose who to invite and so it’s not immediately obvious why it would need to appear on the list of events.
If you want a concrete answer you’d be better asking the RobotEvents team, for whom I don’t have a contact or email address. Maybe RECF? At the end of the day it could just be a software glitch.
