Will you be able to use the GPS Sensor in VRC?

Will it be limited to VEX AI, or can it be used with VRC?

I’m sure that will be in the manual.

From my understanding it is AI only because it is shipped with your ai team registration from what I read online

According to R15 New vex parts will be legal, though there might be some restrictions placed on them later on when they are released.

Note also that the “field code” (the black and white strip on the inside of the field perimeter that the GPS sensor looks at) is not necessarily present on the field in normal VRC or VEXU matches.

From appendix D:

The VEX AI Competition uses the VEX Robotics Competition Change Up field with the VRC Field Position Code Strip and opaque field panels. Anyone that already has a VEX Robotics Competition Change Up field can use it for an AI Competition event with these two modifications.

That’s what I was concerned about. I was hoping that I would be able to integrate the gps into our robot, but it seems unlikely. Thanks!

When Bob Mimlich mentioned in the AI talk that GPS would be important “for even 15 seconds of autonomous” it made it seem like the GPS would be available for VRC, but that probably doesn’t seem to be the case unless they make the GPS code panels required part of the default field.

its legal, but i dont think the barcode will be on fields, so it might be useless
