Windows 8 and ROBOTC Issues

I’ve been trying to update the firmware for a Cortex using Windows 8. I’m able to get the Cortex into download/bootloader mode (steady flash on ROBOT LED, fast green flash on GAME), but ROBOTC thinks that it was unable to do so. I’ve tried all of the steps you’ve listed for getting ROBOTC to update the firmware to no success. I’ve made sure drivers are correct, different microcontrollers, USB A-As. I’m not able to use different USB 2.0, but I had gotten user programs to download in the past using this same laptop.

By the way, the Cortex gets into download mode, and the only way to get it off of it is to update the firmware using a different computer. Power cycling does not solve the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE: I have a friend who recently bought ROBOTC and was having the same issues I was having. I will admit that I haven’t done as thorough of an investigation I had on my computer, I’ll do that next time I see him. Anyway, he has Windows 7, so perhaps Windows 8 isn’t the lone culprit. I’m beginning to think that perhaps it’s an issue with v3.62. We’re both trying to update firmware from an easyC build of the Cortex (3.21 firmware, I think, and it’s running with the easyC master code).
