Please tell me if my team has the spike hooked up right. For the compressor, they have power and ground going to the left side of the spike. On the right, they have the ground of the compressor hooked up to the M- on the right and power comming from the Breaker Panel. The power distribution files shows that both ground and postive of the compressor is hooked up to M+ and M- on the spike(yet they dont have it hooked up this way). The reason I ask is because we have our pressor sensor(which works fine) hooked up to digital input 18 and the spike hooked up to relay output 8(per default code) and the compressor doesnt shut off at 115 psi. That is just one example. They cannot get any other spike to work with anything ie. sol to a pneumatic valve. Any help in this matter will be appreciated.
Not sure where you had the positive side of the compressor connected. Regardless, follow the FRC Power Distribution file. Connect both sides of the Compressor to the SPIKE M+ and M- terminals. The SPIKE has both output terminals connected to ground as a default state. One output terminal goes to +12V in a Forward condition and the other output terminal goes to +12 in a Reverse condition. This allows a motor to run in forward or reverse when connected across the M+ and M- output terminals.
I read somewhere that the compressor must connect to relay 8. If the compressor is,in fact, allowed to run all the time, then I assume this means it should be connected to the circuit breaker not any relay; is this true?
You should be controlling the compressor with your pressure switch and a SPIKE relay. Default code will do this for you if you connect the pressure switch to Digital 18 and the compressor via a SPIKE to Relay 8 Forward.
