I want to put wood under my field because it is on carpet but I don’t know what thickness I should get for the wood.
any size really should be good. you probably don’t need it, unless the carpet is really squishy, the foam tiles are pretty rigid.
you probably want at least a half-inch thick piece of wood - if you really think you need it. Also, you are gonna have a hard time finding a 12 foot by 12 foot wood plank.
My carpet isn’t very squishy but when after I made a consistent auton at home and took it to school, all the turns were off do you think I should get wood under my field? Also does cardboard work
were you using floor tiles when you tested your auton? cardboard would probably do nothing. try walking around on the field. if you can’t feel any shifting or flexing, then your probably good.
Ya I was using floor tiles also when I walk around it’s kinda squishy
then you probably do need a rigid floor. theres no other non-carpeted place to set up your field? like
@Sylvie said you’ll have a hard time getting a 12*12 wood board lol.
I only need it for the red side closest to the flags and there isn’t
So 1/2 inch is fine?
probably. as long as it doesn’t flex too bad.
Ok thanks for the help
no prob
If you don’t have a size in mind, I would use 4 4’ x 8’ sheets and 1 4’ x 4’. Our team used these to create a raised field.
Instead of a single layer of thick sheets, I would recommend 2 layers of thinner sheets. This way you can interlock them so that there isn’t any flexing in between the gaps.
