Its time for the VEX World Championships to step into the 21st century. If FIRST robotics can have a concert with the Black Eyed Peas why can’t VEX have a concert? Just because FIRST has been around longer doesn’t mean that they deserve it more. More people are involved with VEX Robotics because it is more affordable and more accessible, so why should we take a back seat in all the fun? I’m not saying it has to be the Black Eyed Peas, but I think that VEX needs a little more something. Yes, we had mickey mouse dancing around and we all thought that was fun, but we need something a little more age appropriate. (Not that Mickey Mouse isn’t)
One problem with music is that everyone has different tastes, and there is no band/artist that everyone will want to listen to. I know personally I wouldn’t be happy listening to the Black Eyed Peas (not insulting anyone’s music taste, its just me). Also, I usually find that after a competition I am super tired and just wanna head home and get some sleep, and if some event like this was held after the competition, I think I would leave early. But once again, that’s just me.
Also, its unlikely I will actually go to Worlds, but I just thought I’d get my thoughts out there.
After US Nationals last year, some of us (kids on VEX teams) went onto the stage where the robot fields had been set up and played Ninja! The place where Nationals was held also had a pool, so some of us went swimming. It was blast, and it didn’t even cost anything extra, because it was in the same building which CREATE – the organization that runs nationals – had rented out. Is there anyway we could possibly have something like that at Worlds? What kind of attractions does the facility that Worlds will be held at have? Maybe we could go to a nearby park and play some huge game of… ultimate tag?
Now that I would love to see 
100’s upon 100’s of nerds running around. That would be awesome!
When we attedned US Nationals last year there was a pool like Simmons said. It was really fun.
2 years ago, when Worlds was in Dallas, they did have an after party. music was provided by Arc Attack (ArcAttack at VEX Internationals 2010 - Switch Riot - YouTube)
However last year in Orlando, they did not have an after party due to a lack of space, and they thought that people would want to go to the parks afterwards.
This year, Worlds will be hosted the the Anaheim convention center, which is enormous, so space shouldn’t be an issue if they choose to have an after party. So far RECF has not announced whether there will be one or not.
There is absolutely nothing I would have liked changed about that party 
The RECF folks who are planning the World Championship read this forum regularly and welcome your suggestions.
One thing for sure, though, is that there is no swimming pool at the Anaheim Convention Center.

I was disappointed there was no after party at the 2011 worlds as well. I thought the kids would have really enjoyed it. We had heard about previous years and were looking forward fro the kids to do something spectacular at Disney.
I have been to some conventions at Disney World before where there were night time “rent out a park” experiences. I’ve done Universal this way right after the Harry Potter section opened and it was incredible. Is there any way to do something like this? The “spouse” tickets were I think $125 per person so maybe this is the full cost they passed on (but they also had bus transportation for the event). It also had free food and alcohol which could drive a few more dollars on this.
While not every attraction was open, you walked right on plenty of activities and was the only park experience I could squeeze in during this trip. Going on the Hulk 3 times in a row was more than enough for me.
With about 3500 people (my back of the envelope estimation for people coming to Vex Worlds), would this be a group large enough and willing enough to pay extra to do one of these nights? This year maybe not so much since Disneyland seems to have more hours open than Disney World. (It appears Disneyland has hours until Midnight every night and 10pm for the California Adventure.) Does that limit us to within the convention cneter for something?
Last year, without a few extra days, the Disney World park hours were pretty limited in April to go to anything but a few hours of Magic Kingdom at night one or two nights. With the competition it was already pretty full days.

If Vex moves back to Florida, can some Universal or Hollywood Studios night be made available? Or fireworks and a party on site at ESPN?

I’m sure that no one wants something like this to happen. We have to sign waivers for a reason. With such a big group, it’s hard to keep track of people, especially younger kids.
FIRST didn’t have to pay. Vex presumably would.
i was at both of the worlds that were held in dallas and i have know publicly stated that ark attack is my favorite band

come on we are all nerds and what is better for a nerd than the doctor who theme song played on a tesla coil nothing is better it is amazing also they were a big hit at the opening ceremonies two years ago when they played the national anthem.
