World´s place?

Vex World Championship has taken place in Lousville Kentucky for 4 years. Does someone know where is it going to take place for Turning Point???

I mean, It’s still on the expo’s calendar for next year, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t be in Kentucky next year.

Louisville KY April 24-27th 2019 according to the last slide that displayed the information.

Does anyone know how long the expo’s contract lasts with VEX?

Next year is the last year of a 5 year deal.

The original deal was for five. They may have extended it. or not…

Having been there for four years, much has improved and it is fluid. I think they need to tweak the Kentucky Kingdom experience a bit for the VRC team party. I think it is neat for teams to suggest having a dance … It is an ok place to unwind if you are a first time at Worlds, but there is so much more potential given it is right next to the expo center… In addition to rides, maybe clusters of meeting points and activities would really help.

I’m still down for firing up the old RoboProm plans I had years ago… I mean heck RoboProm for FRC is hosted by a team and held in a nice hotel.

A nice dance held in one of the hotels downtown honestly makes a lot of sense.

I heard some rumors going around that Vex was trying to buy out of their contract because it costs them a ridiculous amount of money. I’ve heard they were trying to downsize worlds and make it more competitive too, but I’m not sure how much truth there is to either of these. I’d like both of these changes though for sure.

Honestly… I would rather they change the venue after 2 or 3 years.
I have students who will be spending all their worlds in louisville (since 4 yrs ago). I am really running out of ideas for post-worlds activities.

But of course, i do know that we are just a small group of ppl that has been in louisville for so many years…

I would definitely agree. I myself went to worlds in the second year at Louisville as a freshman, and so will be going for my senior year as long as this contract holds out. It would have been nice to change it up a little bit.

Considering they just expanded Washington state to move on all teams who make it to semis, I think not. Also each team that participated in the high school division is basically another grand for vex, if anything, I see them expanding. Then again I know nothing since I don’t work at IFI so ya know, speculation.

Seattle then?

I mean, I’d be perfectly fine with not having to travel. Though I think it would only be convinient for Eastern Asia and the western half of the USA.

Yes, please  I went back in Skyrise, then again this year. Even though we visit different places on the way to Kentucky (Chicago, this year L.A.) it’d be so much better to spend the majority of the time in a new place.
