Would a piston frog mech+t3 hang be any good for worlds? Please explain why.
What is frog mech
(Joke making fun of VEX lingo above)
It is like a combination of fish mech and lady brown, better than fish and normally uses pistons.
any robot desighn can be good. t3 + lady brown, t3 + fish, t1 + lady brown. literally any robot. the biggest thing to think about is conissitency and reiability. have really good progs to lock AWP in. if you are super confident that you can get this bot done in a timley manner and have plenty of time left over to drive practice and code and that this robot isnt gonna break half way through day 2. go for it. if not go simple with good prog and good driving.
Frog mech is like ladybrown but the ring is vertical when loaded instead of horizontal
t3 in itself is gonna go crazy at worlds even without wallstakes so if ur able to get a frog mech going alongside the t3 would be really good. the only downside that ur really gonna have is not having the advantages of a 360 lb scoring alliance in auto and the tipping ability but I think the t3 would make up for that being able to still get a few rings on with the frog makes it a viable design
I might try PTO but never done anything like that and I could dedicate a full motor to hang.
t3 is gonna be good no doubt. its worht so many points esp with the top ring. but heres the thing. the fast t3’s that have been flaoting around discord and youtube are 8 second climb time. this means that if you can just prefent them from getting to the ladder or jsut park infront of the place to hang for high stake then they have to chicken out and go hang on another poriton of hte ladder or risk not pulling off the hang. so instantley hang becomes less viable based on jsut being a decent driver and premptivley defending. also high hang robots are a little heavier so good chance you loose goal rush meaning no 3rd goal possesion at the end of auton. down thrid goal isnt a death sentence for t3 because of how many points it is but if you mess up a couple of other point opportunities then you are in trouble. Especially in eliminations when opponents can coordinate better they will 100% premptiley defend hang since wallstakes would then be a 1v1. and if they decide not to defend you then wallstakes become a 2v1 and with some cool tech developments and something that happend in claifornia region 4 iirc(involved a full wall stake descore) a 2v1 on wallstakes is a death sentence esp in elims with coordination. i think high hang has crazy solo potential for quals as it would allow you to win qual matches with 2 goals and auton meanign you can easily carry a weaker partner.
in conclusion:
-High hang is easily counterable in elims with good coordination
-high hang means giving up wallstakes and new developments in descore tech means evne if wallstakes are claimed early they coudl easily get wiped clean
-HIgh hang has really good potneital for carrying in quals when against 2 decent teams with 1 weaker partner.
a singular motor wont do anything for hang. your gonna need alot of torque and pulling power to lift your robot with any sort of speed.
Do you have the timestamp for this descore?
With 600 rpm drive, you wont loose every time, and if you do win just tip goal, if you don’t 1 in positive and teammate with another one.
at 30 seconds with a goal in positive and teammate with 1+maybe 1 wallstake control and t3+ high stake, which in theory doesn’t seem that hard. That seems like a pretty good chance at winning.
Also not both wallstake will be sacrificed. If you have lady brown teammate (seems normal for worlds) Than at 30 have them just get top ring on wallstake.
