We’re not completely sure about the number of teams attending worlds but from what’s been posted on the website we expect to see ~299 other teams there. What will the format for competition be?
3 divisions of 100 each?
6 divisions of 50 each?
8 divisions of 40 each?
1 giant competition of 300?
Scouting data is almost useless once you get into the playoffs so knowing whether it’s worthwhile to get data from other teams who aren’t in your division would be helpful.
And from there, will the champion alliance from each division advance to a separate, smaller championship tournament? The top four?
The way i understand things are going to happen is that there are nearly 200 teams or more in the highschool competition. They will not be split up if it runs the same as last year. The other divisions will be college and middle school. So three divisions but highschool being the main event.
theres only like 220 ive heard for high school. 3 fields so theres no time between matches. It worked last year and everyone got 8 matches. i was there…
The agenda says Saturday includes “Playoffs” from 1:45 to 4:00 and “Finals and Closing Ceremony” from 4:00 to 5:30. I read this as “divisional playoffs at 1:45, followed by inter-divisional finals at 4:00.” I could be wrong, of course, but it would sure make a lot more sense to have four divisions with the winning alliances going into the finals. I guess we’ll find out soon.
