We are using two buildings at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. One will contain two high school and the middle school VRC division, and the other will contain two high school VRC divisions and the BEST competition. Other than that, you’ll have to wait for details. We are working on it.

Here’s some pictures of the two facilities. Looks like there are only two indoor facilities at ESPN Wide World of Sports. One is set up for wrestling and one is set up for basketball in these pics. But you should be able to get the feel of the place. Seems like nice stands in the Josten Center with what appears to be 40-50 rows of bleachers. I wonder if they will be pulled out all the time or just some of the time?

You people never give up, do you?
We will be using the Josten’s Center, the HP Field House, and a temporary building set up between them. The competition will all be in the fixed buildings, and some of the pits will be in the temporary structure. Just so you don’t start fretting – the temporary building will house the entire pits for two divisions, so the other teams you most need to work with will be close. The temporary building will have hard floors and full electric service, will be secured at night (never leave valuables in any robotics venue, though), and will be air conditioned. No, I do not know which division your team will be in, which building it will be playing in, or where your pits will be. We still have a lot of tournaments left to play, and as many as another 100 teams still have to qualify and register.
All teams from the same school/club will be in the same pits area, although if your numbers are non-contiguous you will not be next to one another. Even if your teams are sequentially numbered (such as 5555A, B, and C) you may still be around the corner or across from one another if that’s how the pit arrangements fall. Do not count on having one big “super pit” and plan accordingly. The pits are assigned numerically to make it possible for teams, judges, and tournament staff to find you. You will not swap pits, move to another pit space, or do anything other than occupy the space assigned to you. Trust me – this is for the good of the staff and participants.
Does that answer some of your immediate questions?
(Final arrangements for the divisional physical layout are underway now, but I believe the college division will end up in the HP Field House.)
