Worlds LRT/LRS Choice

According to this comparison chart from the REC foundation, if you qualify for worlds, you have to choose between the LRT (live remote tournament) and LRS (live remote skills) Championships.

Assuming your team qualifies for worlds, would you be more inclined to participate in the Live Remote Skills Championship or Live Remote Tournament Championship?

For Alabama there are no lrts (that I know of), and any in person tournaments are already full. Since states will be a lrt and a skills tournaments for state; we’re going to go to the skills because getting a higher skills score will be better for qualifying for worlds (because of how worlds spots are being distributed in Alabama). Add the fact that I think lrts are terrible (although I think the gdc is doing the best they can for a swing game), and worlds will cost lots of money anyways. There’s just no way I’d sign up for lrt worlds. However, if participating in lrts was useful for me to qualify for worlds, then I would be interested in doing a lrt worlds.

Where is the “I won’t pay $500 to go to a virtual event” option?

If you qualify, what will you do?

  • I will attend virtual worlds
  • I won’t attend virtual worlds

LRT seems to be better bang for your buck?
500 dollars seems a lot for a skills only worlds

Yeah, but at least LRS is playable…

$500? How on earth can it cost that much without a convention center and without transporting fields and a number of other things that do not need to be done?

Yup - I said something similar after it was announced.

I think its because the RECF staffing cost is pretty high - they have to keep all the staff employed and worlds is one of the main revenue generator

I stand by my opinion that $500 is superior to $1000.

At this point, our team would probably do LRS.
