Would a 5.5 Watt motor work on a lift?

Our team wants to do a wall stake scoring mechanism, but we spent 5.5 watts on our first stage intake and 11 watts on our hooks for speed and torque. Our coach told us to do this 16.5 watt intake setup and said a 5.5 watt motor lift would work fine. We were hoping to do a 2 bar redirect system, but we are not sure whether a 5.5 has enough torque even with gearing.

I would recommend getting rid of the 5.5 motor on the intake and instead using a 11 watt motor in both the intake and lift that would most likely work best

A wall stake scorer would have to be really slow for it to be run by 5.5W. I would recomend making the hooks 5.5W and tune the ratio and positioning.

It could work with 5.5w, but it would be pretty iffy. We initially had our wall stake mech on a 5.5w, but we had to do some crazy banding, so we switched to 11w intake and 11w wall stake mech, and I would recommend you do the same if you want it to be consistent. Ultimately, I would say try it with the 5.5w first, and if it’s not working how you want it to, switch to 11w. There’s no reason to switch unless you tried it out first.

With the correct gearing, yes - it will work.
but the real question should be - is it the best option?

A 5.5 watt motor is very weak. I would suggest doing two 5.5 watt motors to support both sides of the lift. That should be viable enough.

it is possible to do a 5.5w lift with proper use of banding. there are a couple of great post and tools on vexforum. i would suggest using a combination of triangle banding and piston assist. that way your motor doesnt fight gravity as much due to the triangle banding and if u tune piston pressure and release speed it can give you extra force either pusihgn the arm up and pulling the arm down depending on wether or not the piston is expanded or contracted.

Just a little fyi 2 5.5w is weaker than 1 11w.

I agree, that would be the best course of use for the 5.5 watt motors
