Would a triangle sprocket chain system be better?

Our team is currently rebuilding our bot. For the gear ratio, should we use a triangle chain system? Do you think there are clear benefits?

I think that a triangle chain drivetrain would be a good idea if you don’t want to use gears. Just make sure that you have enough room on your robot to do this.

I would recommend to almost always use a gearing along the chassis instead of sprockets. Gears in general give a better chassis layout and friction reduction. I would go 2.5:1 on the actual ratio.

It would use a single chain system instead of two, so maybe less friction? Although this would mean the chains are more likely to slip.

The chain on @Semonater470 robot is loose enough to not have too much friction, while being tight enough to not slip gears. Another way of phrasing Semonater 470’s question is: Is it worth it to have a sprocket system with less friction, or is it better to have a gear ratio directly to one of the axels, while the other axle is connected by sprockets to it?

P.S. We are on the same team.
