When making an X-Drive do all the wheels have to be evenly spaced (Square vs Rectangle)? If not what will happen and why?

yeah because if they aren’t evenly distanced its going to mess up your robot and make it turn when you don’t want to.

Yes and you want to make sure the weight is even across all 4 wheels so they have equal traction.

I ran Asterisk Drive (66 watts x drive with middle wheels) for high stakes, and the wheels were not perfectly lined up. You want all of the wheels to be perpendicular to a line coming from the center of mass (COM) of the robot, but it really isn’t that big of a deal if they are 5 degrees off or something small.
The problem with rotation will happen with side-to-side movement, and the only way to fix that is with better COM balancing.
