X-Drive Wheel Assembly query

Hi
I had a few questions about the wheel assembly in X-Drives (and any drives for that matter).
In an X-Drive do you need shaft collars either side of the wheel? Or on the end of the shaft protruding from the c-channel? And in terms of washers and spacers how many do you need? Where should you place them? And how big should they be?
Thanks in advance

Not really; you only need enough shaft collars to hold the shaft in place (generally one). However, I usually like to use two per shaft in case one fails.

A shaft collar here doesn’t really do anything.

They should fill the space between either c-channel.

Really all of these are not specific to x-drive, but are true for any vex drive.

Thanks
Just to clarify - for shaft collars where would you position them?

Anywhere that stops the shaft from falling out…? That’s what shaft collars are for

Ok - So for example on the inside edge of a c-channel where the shaft goes through? - Presumably you’d need a washer between the collar and the c-channel

Yes.

No, just give it a bit of wiggle room so there’s no friction.

Sorry for the extreme amount of questions but when you said you’d put 2 washers to be safe in case one failed where would you put the second one?

*shaft collars

between the channels or between the inner channel and the motor.
