(Not sure if this is the exact topic for this discussion)
I have a question about rule R8J in the Vex 2021 manual. This says:
“Zip Ties that are identical in length and thickness to those included in the VEX V5 product line (1/10” Wide, 4” or 11” long) [are allowed.]”
By 11", does it mean the whole zip tie, or not including the locking mechanism? I have a zip tie that is 11.375" including, and 11.125" not including the locking mechanism.
Furthermore, on the VEX website store, small zip ties are listed as having a width of 1/10", while large zip ties are not listed with a width. Because the larger zip ties can support more weight, I assume that they must also be thicker and wider than shorter ones. Does the width requirement of 1/10" apply to larger zip ties also? And if not, then what is the requirement?
Honestly referees are fairly lenient when it comes to zip ties. If the zip ties are close enough, it’s fine. But bear in mind this is an unofficial response and rulings/consensuses can change over a period of time.
I could try using the slightly different ones I’ve got. I’d rather not have “most” of the referees be fairly lenient, and then have 1 walk by and DQ us. Also, the zip ties that I’ve got are white rather than black. Does that matter at all?
