1 motor flywheel gearing?

Here’s my flywheel from back in May lol

Personally I had it on mine so i could mount my motor on the same side as my flywheel, and the mechanism would be more compact.

Overall this is a pretty compact design for a flywheel, but personally if I built another flywheel bot I would just do a 1:1 motor.

Oh thats a very cool idea, putting the motor between the two c channels and not outside!

was the motor thing a way to conserve space for other mechanisms and sutch?

It allowed us to have a much more compact mechanism, and that left space open

Watch 606x VEX HEX’s video on how they did direct 3600 RPM no cartridge motor for their flywheel. It saves gears, blue cartridges, and time on building.

This is the setup we have rn

plates!!! plates are not good for a flywheel. You really want c channel and bracing, such as the post a few posts up. Also, keps nuts on the flywheel bearings are not particularly good, the vibration following the flywheels high speeds will just vibrate the keps nuts off.

We’ve been using this for a while and it seems to have good support, the only thing im concerned about is oscillation

Def use C channels and ball bearings for your flywheel. The speed by itself will bend your plates to the grave

Agreed on the plates. However, if you have them, the 1x5 c-channel bolts together very well, is as wide as a plate, but is still also.
