2019 - 2020 VEX Robotics Competition - Tower Takeover

It’s interesting to me because I thought they would make a game that relied on the vision sensor a lot. Don’t see a big need for it in this. So Cortex can live another year if need be.

Vision Sensor. Finally viable.

What for?

I am very interested in what this will mean. Initially I assumed the cubes were foam cubes, but it will be interesting to determine how it will work with grabbing the slick, hard surfaces of the cubes. The descoring, towers, and alliance zones make this game much less of a tight score with the increase in field elements.

I feel that robots will be a lot light high rise robots from vex iq

Also interested to see if most people will stick to one design, or if we’ll see a multitude of different ideas and strategies.

Tbh, this game doesn’t even look that bad. I like how there are no limits, but I feel most (if ever team) teams will have very similar strategies. even during the start of the competition.

I think that’s the idea. Next year though…

Cortex is allowed for this year

No, it’s not. Cortex is allowed.

99% positive you are mistaken.

I like the strategic element of scoring cubes in towers and manipulating their values. It’s more complex than turning point, where it was scoring and descoring.

<G17> Let go of Game Objects after the Match. Robots must be designed to permit easy removal of Cubes from any mechanism without requiring the Robot to have power after a Match.

Anyone have the inner dimensions of the goal areas? Trying to figure out how many cubes fit…

I think only two because they have to be flat on the tiles.

Update: appears that it is allowed, I apologize. I must have heard incorrectly. Sorry!

I have searched the rules for a good hour now but I still can’t find how many cubes you can carry at a time. Can anyone help me out with this?

Believe there’s no limit.

A robot that can hold all the cubes and gets them all very fast…

or just throw them all onto one side.
