We had a parent stand in line for an hour and it’s limited to one per team (did have to pay, but I dont know how much). I cant tell you much more than that, Im sorry.
African or European?
Exactly, I wish there were more ways to score.
I wonder what would happen if all of the robots got to the same tier (Or all didn’t get to any tier, just stayed on the ground). Would the points for elevation not matter? Or would it be determined on who go highest the fastest?
Either way, I’m very exited to see the different solutions teams come up with. I’m exited to work with my team to come up with a solution.
The Triballs are fully hollow and really light.
That’s helpful, thank you.
They sell them at worlds. They were about five dollars and were limited to one per team.
Yes. Because the general shape of the triball is a tetrahedron(with round sides) the point will always be up if dropped.
I’ve been calling them cones
I think that Launcher “over” bots might become the new turrets. There will likely be some, but I don’t think they will be too common. Although, they wouldn’t need to be too accurate, and that is likely to make them more common than turrets were this year. I highly doubt they will be accurate enough to be as precise as you predict, Trireuleauxacornballtetrahedronspheres will likely be more difficult to launch than disks, and just looking at how hard it is to hit a still goal from across the field, I don’t think it will be very possible to pass it straight to another bot. It may happen, but I doubt anyone will be able to do it consistently.
My guess is that there will be some number of all-round bots, some overs, and some unders, but importantly there will likely be more unders than overs. Being an over will likely be more valuable in an alliance, but more challenging to build.
In both games they climbed, but in different ways. In FRC it was easier since it was horizontal bars, also you had to move from bar to bar. In VEX it is vertical climbing, which mean a harder to hook on, and not switching bars
Time based would be pretty hard for the referee to score. Also some times two robots could climb at almost the same time.
I was unclear. Originally, it appeared they were not symmetrical, like there was a ‘bottom’ and 3 sides.
I think an under will have a larger skill curve. Sure, anyone can push acorns into the goals, but a good under will catch mid-air using a hopper/net. That seems a lot more difficult than a scoop attached to an arm that flings acorns. The real challenge that I don’t think a majority of teams will be able to solve is how to make a bot for both roles. Also, building an under is a risk that a lot of teams might not be willing to take, so they might be rarer.
One thing I would like to see is if unders or overs perform better in quals because an under always has a good under on their team, but their over might not be good. However, overs will always have an over and can have a teammate flex to under. Mid-year Alliance selection will be interesting if the unders do better just because overs will be fighting for the unders’ choice.
I wonder if there will be a size limit after the initial 18 inches. It would be cool if there was not.
There probably will be, or else teams will build walls in the center to stop teams from crossing the field
