2026 - 2027 VEX IQ Robotics Competition Game: Level Up!

Is there a Field CAD file with color? The current one is all grey and doesn’t seem to be great for rendering or adding a robot on. I might also be looking at it wrong, but opening it in Fusion or Onshape doesn’t seem to display any colors. It would be greatly appreciated!

First one is an R2 violation, and the second is an SG6 violation and would be considered possessing more than one beanbag.

I really like the game and I am brainstorming strategies for the field but I wish there was a bit more complexity to it

It starts at the left of the bean bag loads on either side of the field, depending on which alliance you are.

I like the game but the hero bot sucks tbh. swish is better than flop in my honest opionon

Why would you think that a robot designed specifically to be a trainer for brand new novice teams would be a highly competitive design? After your first year of robotics, you should be using the engineering design process to develop your own winning design!

@kmmohn, I built the hero bot, and without any modifications, the drivetrain has almost too much friction to drive, the scoring arm expands out of the size limit, and the arm hard-stop snaps off the robot really easily, allowing the robot to become turtled on its back.

The only thing good about the robot desing is the brain mount. That thing ain’t goin’ no where.

I actually like this though. The hero bot is so bad, that teams are pretty much forced to make some modifications to the design. I worry about all of the SG2 violations though. Reffering will be cold if there is no rule change.

I guess that could be a good thing, though. After all, Vex does promote making innovative changes to the hero bot.

I am guessing the arm was never meant to be a true 180 arm the flips backwards. The CGI videos introducing each game are usually somewhat aspirational when it comes to hero bot capabilities. Last season it showed Huey easily lifting and placing the beam, for example.

It appears like the Flop hero bot can maybe score up to L3 in the forward-facing position? My son’s team has other designs and won’t be making or testing the hero bot. My son watched the Level Up video and thought if the long arm rotated backwards too much the bot would tip over, which seems to be your experience. Regardless, it will be a good learning experience for new teams to learn to make useful modifications.

I mean from a newbie stand point as well (believe me we made the mix and match hero bot terrible. Like really bad it jammed alot) that it is just mid at all points (except for actually doing the game).

Oh it can get pretty complex, just from what I have seen of the field, you guys are in for a treat, I really hope someone tries to design a purposefully cantilevered/gusset mounted drive that is thin enough to fit between the post in the middle so it can drive straight from one field side to the other!

I mean the field is complex but if you strip it down its just putting beanbags in to goal i wish there was like a bonus piece that does double points or something
