8059: Super early season Robot Reveals for Push Back

Hi all,

As mentioned in our Blank.'s Beginnings thread, here’s the robot reveals of some of the robots that were used in the event.

Pardon the not-as-polished-as-usual video.
The students are actually in the midst of their holidays, hence I didn’t want them to come back to the lab too often just for the video.

Summary:

8059A - Ri24hr

8059F - Ri48hr
(The intake is side rollers, instead of the usual horizontal rollers. And it has a simple, but yet useful descoring mechanism)

8059J - it is our version of this season’s “herobot”.
(This is mainly for beginning teams that has limited building or design experience. The design is basically a throwback to the 2nd season of VRC - Elevation.)

Specs are in the video.
Do leave your questions or comments. And as usual, I will need to ask my students about it.

I am pretty sure all my teams will be moving on from all these early season designs.
But still hope this vid will give some of you ideas on what will work and what will not.

Have fun!

why did they use side rollers?

Personally I prefer the side rollers for this season too.
Just look at Change Up or Gateway - when tuned right, the side rollers will be able to intake the cubes directly from the loaders.
Don’t see a need to have an extra mechanism to insert into the loaders in order to take the cubes out.

I have actually asked the students to take a look at past seasons games to decide what they want to do. Guess 8059F must have arrived at the same conclusion as me.
