Advantages and disadvantages for Mecanum wheels?

I’m doing the engineering notebook for my robotics team and researching Mecanum wheels as a viable option. I think I got most of the pros and cons down but I’m wondering if there are anymore or if there is any misinformation here. See the image below:

I’ve seen a lot of good arguments for and against mecanum wheels. Do you think mecanium wheels would be good for this year’s “Push Back” season? I’m not very sure myself since the arguments I’ve seen have me split.

Well, I’d say the main disadvantage for mecanum wheels is that there is none.

Back to the point, mecanum wheels (at least the 4in ones that Vex sells) are really heavy.
the 2in ones do not have enough clearance between the rollers. Because of this, heavy robots will have great difficulty strafing becaus the wheels sink into the ground and the plastic mountsat the end contact the ground. Try searching “Mecanum” with the filter for posts posted by @technik3k, He has many helpfull posts about this topic.

Thanks, that was really helpful! Our team was considering the smaller mecanum wheels, but if we can’t strafe with them, perhaps we will consider other options. I was thinking of an X-Drive with small wheels.
