Alternative Sources for VRC Field Foam Tiles

The Vex website is out of foam tiles. Is there another place that sells similar tiles for the VRC field?

Sadly, I’m pretty sure you’re only allowed to use VEX antistatic tiles and no other brands.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought you only need VEX official tiles only for competitions. You can use non-VEX tiles when building it yourself (although it might cause some robots to fit different conditions than the actual competition).

Thanks for bringing up the main question.
There is already a post on this: Cheap Alternative Tiles - #8 by Kevin_Boenisch. It might help to do your research before asking a question.

There are plenty others (although varying in similarity to VEX’s tiles):

The list goes on. You can find some more at companies such as softtiles.com and wesellmats.com.

Check out this post. I think it will answer your question: Vex Low Cost Identical Legal Parts Compilation - VEX V5 General Discussion / General Forum - VEX Forum

Unfortunately, that link does not have sources for tiles. The official vex is out of foam tiles. That is why I was looking for alternative sources for tiles.

Is this what you need? http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-anti-fatigue-foam-mat-set-94635.html

If you’re trying to get the tiles for a field at home, it is hard to find tiles with a height of 0.63 in that are cheaper in price. Your best bet would probably be to find tiles that are 0.5 inches tall or anything thinner than the 0.63 in height of the vex official tiles so that the screws that go into the metal plates at the bottom of the field will be able to secure in.

Summary

Short answer is to get tiles that are either 0.63 inches thick, or a thickness lower than that.

Just curios, why is it cheaper to purchase two 18 tile sets than one 26 tile set?

A fair question.

I have forwarded this off to the appropriate team to hopefully get this resolved.
