We were looking for Rope to use as an alternatives to the Vex Rope and we were wondering if 1/8 inch paracord would be acceptable. It has the same diameter and is also made of braided nylon. The vex rope is 0.125" (3.18mm) diameter, same as the paracord. The paracord is black and gold (our school colors). Would this be acceptable?

Let’s take a look at the rule dealing with rope in the VEX Robotics Comeptition Nothing But Net Game Manual I’ve bolded some text for emphasis:

So as long as your rope is 1/8" in diameter and is braided nylon, it would be legal to use.
