Answered: Cortex won't connect to controller

[aside]Since this is along the same lines as Dave’s thread, I tried to add it to his; however, I got a screen that said I didn’t have the rights to do that (even though the bottom of the screen said I did)[/aside]

I’m having similar problems trying to connect the Cortex to the controller. We purchased 3 sets for PLTW and VRC; they all worked initially in early August, but now when I try to establish connection through the USB-USB cable, the green light blinks twice, followed by all flashing red in descending order. This happens with each Cortex. The troubleshooting guide suggests the battery may be low; I’m using freshly charged VEX batteries and a 9V backup new out of the box.

Also, one of our handheld controllers has never worked - whether tethered to the Cortex or with batteries in it, we can’t even get it to turn on. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks and have a great weekend,
-Mike

Taylor,

I recommend you to reload Mastercode and Firmware into the Cortex units.
Have you done this procedure before?
If not, I can guide you through it.

Regarding the Joystick, all of our products have a 90-day warranty.
If you provide me the VEX order number I will be able to check your warranty.

No, I have not. As of right now, we don’t have any programming software loaded on our computers (our IT department is working through the image and we will hopefully get them up next week … )

We ordered the materials in the spring near the end of the school year; we just opened them and tested them recently. Our 90 days have expired.

Once you get your software installed please reload new Mastercode & Firmware.
You can also find the Mastercode & Firmware in the “Downloads” page of www.vexrobotics.com

For the Joystick, I can probably take a look at it if you mail it back to VEX.
Send an email to [email protected] for return instructions.

Thanks for your help!
