Answered: Problem with Figure 6

The new ***Figure 6 (right) - *Example of a Ring not Scored on a Post on page 6 of the Game Manual added on 8/17 is not consistent with the definition of Scored.
If no part of the Post were within the volume defined by the outer edges of the Ring, the Ring would fall to the ground!
If the Ring in Figure 6 is not Scored, then the definition of Scored needs to be changed.

The full definition of Scored is as follows, with a portion bolded for emphasis:

A Ring is Scored if it is not touching a Robot and meets one of the following criteria:

  1. The Ring is contacting the Floor Goal
  2. Any part of a Post is within the volume defined by the outer edges of the Ring (i.e. part of the Ring is encircling or surrounding the Post).

No part of the Ring in Figure 6 is encircling or surrounding the Post. Thus, it should not count as Scored.
