We’re having issues with our arm lift. Our claw makes it to heavy and now our arm lift won’t go up. Is there any strengthening techniques we can use to make our arm stronger so it can support our claw?
Hi, welcome to vex forum!
From what I see in the images, that linkage connecting the motors to the lift is definitely not optimal. You could probably reduce most of the strain you’re experiencing by just having the motors directly connected (or geared) to the lift.
have you tried a different gear ratio to make it stronger but that is a very good idea for your claw hope this helps ![]()
Looking at the photos, it seems like the claw is mounted pretty far out from the pivot, so the motors have to fight a lot more leverage. Besides changing the gearing, I’d see if there’s any way to bring the claw a little closer to the lift or shave a bit of weight off the end. Even a small reduction out there can make a noticeable difference in how easily the arm lifts.
