Attaching Override toggle bracket to metal arena

Good day!

The diagram showing how to attach the toggle brackets to the top of the arena walls shows them attached to a portable field. We have a metal field and there is no diagram available to see them attached to it. Spacer are provided and I am guessing they are used to fill in the space. But what side of the arena wall do the spacers go? Inside or outside? TIA!

Man, I miss the metal fields. Even though they were a bit of a pain to set up, they were much stronger and could last yearsss without replacement.

I dont think VEX Robotics uses/tests the field elements on the metal field anymore, which is why there’s no more instructions for them.

I might suggest looking at the field appendix and 3D printing mounts that compensate the difference, possibly?

Thank you for the suggestion.

will be setting up our field tomorrow. You will want to put spacer out outside of perimeter wall, since the inside perimeter is the same plane for both metal and portable fields.

Will correct my post if I was wrong when we assemble the field.

That is exactly what I did. Found that spacers work well on the outside of the arena wall.q

We’re running into the same problem. However we don’t really understand the spacers you mentioned, could you elaborate?

Yes. We used the same spacers we use between the framework and wheels. We slipped them on over the screws as we inserted the screw through the arena wall/brackets. This way the bracket won’t be bent when you tighten the screws.
