Blue motors burning out for fly wheel

Hello,
We have a fly wheel using a blue motor on a fly wheel. This blue motor burns out within 30 seconds. Any help?

Nice bot! Here are some potential issues we can adress.

Could you possibly support the gears and sprockets on both sides? That will drastically reduce friction.

What gear ratio is your flywheel? It seems to be very fast. That 84:12 gear ratio produces 4200 rpm. (Also are the sprockets different sizes?) This is very fast for a flywheel. Maybe change the 84 tooth gear for a 60 tooth gear (5:1 ratio for 3000 RPM).

Make sure that structure is square. As an experiment, pull the shaft out of the motor and spin the flywheel with your hand. Are you meeting resistance? If so, consider rebuilding the structure to be more square.

Are your shafts nice and straight? A bent shaft can be detrimental to your flywheel efficiency.

Good luck fixing your flywheel! (And notebooking it all )
