Can face shields replace safety glasses?

Safety glasses fog up terribly when wearing most masks and face coverings. I’ve noticed in my UAV program face shields OR safety glasses can be worn. Any chance this can happen with VEX VRC?

I’ve noticed its been really hard for kids to remember to put their glasses on their faces. They simply can’t see with the fog from the face masks. I can’t tell you how many times I need to remind kids to remove the glasses from on top of their heads and put them on their faces at the tournament field. I don’t blame the kids, they can’t see well with the glasses due to the fog.

I’m hoping there can be an official discussion of this option. Thank you!

this is the only thing said about glasses in the rules, it doesn’t say no, but just incase bring a pair of glasses. I would say a face shield would count as glasses with side shields.
i have seen some people wearing face shields at competitions without being told to get glasses (but that doesn’t make them 100% legal)

In most events I have been to, the general message from head refs was “I don’t really care what it is, as long as it is in front of your eyes.”
I have seen normal glasses, safety glasses, face shields, and even a welding mask uses.

One team I know uses a knight’s helmet so I think that’s accurate

I would remove the student member from the drive station if the eye slits did not have protection to prevent physical debris from contacting eye.

That, at the end of the day, is the point of eye protection / safety glasses.
