We have mangaged to do the field permiter and tiles howerver its unclear how the game elements work such as the center goal, this is because the plate is supposed to be mounted under the field but how do the connection points reach the goal? How do you install it and the other goals we have read the manual and yet its still unclear.
The installation manual is on VEXrobotics.com under downloads tab. The link should be on product page as well.
I am pretty sure the shipping box had QR codes printed on them as well.
Here is the link to V5 build instructions - you will find game assembly on this page:
We have read the instruction we just dont undestand how the field plates connect to the game elements under the foam tiles
Screws go through the plates into the standoffs they come with. Then screws go through the center goal into the standoffs
My question is the image shows the plate goes under the mat but how do they go through the mat
As indicated in the assembly instructions, in between the tiles (tabs), fit the provided standoffs attached to the plates to come just to surface level. Use the provided screws to attach the goals to the plates.
Standoffs on the base plates come up between the tile teeth. You’ll have to squish the tile teeth a bit to get everything in place. Then you should be able to see the standoffs poking through like this:
These images/renders are a thing the build instructions are missing. Who needs to be @ed or #taged to get this into next year’s instructions.
Thanks for this, this image is significantly more helpful than the renders inside the instruction manual
The online/cloud based interactive instructions system we are using allows us to make revisions and edits to the instructions and push them live to the website immediately.
We can try to find a way to better display this in the instructions for this game and push it live. I’ll add this to our instructions feedback doc that we have been compiling.
This is also why we have not released the .pdf download, yet. We expect there to be a few revisions similar to this to improve the experience, and once we are confident that the instructions are rock-solid, we’ll post a .pdf export. We know some users still prefer to print.
It has been released on the build instructions page:
Welp! We’ll just have to make sure we update that with any other updates.
The High Stakes PDF instructions, for part of the season, was out of date, as the CADASIO instructions were updated, but the PDF was not.
I saw those… but they are not especially clear as to what part of what tab the standoff goes through. I was using PDF…, can you rotate the 3D version?
Yes, the 3D version is interactive. You can rotate, pan, zoom, and manipulate any step to help you get different angles/views of what is going on.
Yeah the pdf doesn’t show how the standoffs go through the mats
yes you can rotate, pan, tilt, zoom into the model. It makes it useful for looking up close at things.
I would also recommend assembling/installing the center goal in this order:
- standoffs on plate
- plate under tiles
- top clear lexan onto yellow metal supports
- metal supports onto plate standoffs (i e. Install it on the field)
- bottom lexan onto installed goal.
This is because it is VERY difficult to attach the goal to the plate standoffs with the bottom lexan in place.
