Can the Ratchet and Pawl Stand Up to the Tension Needed for Catapulp

Hi All,

(Lert me start by saying, I’ll have my students test this regardless of the answer if they want to use it. But , I don’t want them chasing something forever that will never work. We generally only get about 8-10 after school practices before our first tournament.)

The 2nd Gen Construction Kit comes with a small ratchet and pawl. Is this strong enough to hold tension needed for a successful catapult? I
I understand there are probably “better” solutions, but I like to encourage the students, particularly the older ones, to try new concepts.

Thanks for your thoughts

It will. I was stress testing rubber bands, and got 45 mins of time in before the rubber band broke (did a battery swap at 25 mins). The rest of the linkage looked fine.
