Can You Throw Mogos?

I know I’m a little late at responding on the post, but at this point in the season, I think it is crucial to have a couple of cones on the goal in order to gain that highest stack advantage. Although there could be one or two lucky throws that keep the cones on (if any), but I don’t think launching the mobile goal into the zone is the best idea. Just my opinion.

While not relevant to the thread topic, I would like to point out that the design award is primarily based around the quality of the engineering notebook, not a unique design.

Well, the mobile goal thrower would be an “different approach to the design process” and it would be hard not to document such a revolutionary design so their notebook would be jampacked with designs and logs and other as such. It would require a lot of time and skill to devise a mobile goal thrower so they should be fine on documentation and planning (as you can see I really want a mobile goal thrower to win worlds…)

Smh

It would be VERY touchy with the whole no damaging elements rule. If you tried launching in the 10 pt zone, it shouldn’t be an issue, the 20 pt tube is very tough. However, for launching in the 20 pt zone, the mobile goal would hit the perimeter, resulting in a loud BANG, and the referees would not take kindly to that.

well, at our asia pacific comp theres a team that would throw mogos, but im not going to say names im just going to say that they were fine and legal

We use our mogo throwing ability in our skills runs. However, it’s more of a launch rather than a throw.

Our old robot could “throw” mobile goals. Not actually throw them, but using inertia, drive up to the bar, and without driving over it, the mobile goal would slide out without us lowering our lift at all. We would have been good at skills with that technique.

The robot in question

dang son, that’s pretty efficient i guess

when it works at least

@Wingus or Dingus looks like a Starstruck revival. I tip my hat to you. If only you could get some distance.

@Wingus or Dingus that’ll be correct

What if you made a mogo intake that was like a normal one, except it had a pneumatic launcher at the back? that way you could just drive up to the starting bar and launch one in to the 20. Would this be possible? Or would it require too many pistons? I’m thinking for a skills bot by the way.

I dont think you can get that amount of force to throw a mogo into the 20, maybe the 10, but you could get the same results easily with a 4 bar.

Someone please tell me the water game meme, I’m really curious.

I see you’re new here. Here’s a thread that will get you started along the road.

There are many others. You can search for “water game” in the search box (above, right) but using google and narrowing it to “site:vexforum.com water game” is a better bet.

If you read the thread above, I’m still hoping for the “Bootleg Bandits” game someday.

I’m pretty sure “water game” was already considered a hopelessly old, tired joke in FRC by 2004 when I started. Time to wave good-bye to the water game and come up with a new tired, old joke.

Water game will never be forgotten as long as Vex is around. It is inevitable at this point. Same thing with Bootleg Bandits, lul.

Water game predates VEX even. As Rick said, it’s been around since FRC. It’s the meme that will never die.

Close to 2 decades.

Yeah, I am a newbie.
Thanks for your help again. I can’t find a Thanks button to hit for you.
