Cascade rebuild help

Hey there so my team recently just competed in our first comp and we did ok we made it to quarter finals. But we saw that the team that won had a really good cascade and now we are rebuilding it to go higher and to not sway side to side. So i wanted to to know how i can make a strong cascade that still is low on friction and what size c channels to make it go to the max. any tips greatly help

I’d recommend (assuming you have more upcoming competitions) to use 3 aluminum 25 c channels on either side. Use bearing flats and 1/8" spacers to prevent the metal from going edge on edge. From there, a 600 rpm motor on a 3:1 ratio would give you a good balance of speed and torque, crucial at competitions. You can choose chain or string, I’d recommend chain if you have the time, but if not string is a good one to use if you have an upcoming competition (<4 weeks out)
