Dude same here. I was making a cad today because that is literally what I was going to build except for the hoarder. It is so annoying.

I see those TT China intake. Hell of a build for 24 hours. Great job.

You could probably have some sort of ball lock mechanism that allows you to have 2m side rollers hard mounted to the base, and when the bot lifts, the ball lock stops the balls from rolling out of the tray. Your intakes would stay behind on the base. You could ratchet power from your lift to release or stop the balls from flowing. Would allow a 2m lift, but tbh what you have is simpler, and might be better.

this was one of the ideas that we brainstormed, we took about 45 minutes to and hour before we even touched any parts to just get an idea as a team and the ball lock was something that we talked about aswell as other ideas, but we noticed that a one motor lift was plenty for lifting what we needed, but we are a VexU team so we could add another motor to the lift no problem, we just wanted to show that this design was completely doable for highschool and middle school, the robot followed all parameters for it to work with highschool/middleschool

This is sweet, how hard was it to build the lift

Fairly simple, pretty much just a standard 1 motor 4-bar.

Do you have a CAD design that you could send in any way please?

This is honestly a really awesome robot, my two person team was planning on doing something like this for middle school without the hoarder when we saw this, so it really gave us a boost! I guess this is kinda gonna be the norm but eh it’s a cool robot nonetheless

That in 24 hours. Heck that would take me months to even cad that!

How did the intake fall like that

They use rubber bands. Rubber bands are the most common method of deploying intakes, although you could use gravity and a lock.

This comment didn’t age well

lol I know. Was just thinking about some of the comments I made shortly after the game reveal. Meta may not be the correct term, but maybe “alternative competitive concept”? I guess we will see how this reply ages, but I reserve a small degree of confidence in the ability to transform this into potentially another closely competitive design.

I hope so. I’d hate to see another year where every robot is the same basic design

But this time, it’ll be even more fun, because the robot design would be perfected by mid season.

It’s probably taken apart by now and it’s been 2 years since this robot had to compete…. And the topic… so it would be best to maybe dm them instead of reviving such an old topic.
