Code only runs if hitting Download

Hi All,

This is my 3rd year coaching and 2nd year teaching the IQ. Yesterday was our 3rd meeting of the year. The first 2 were just building the Base Bot. The lesson on week 1 is simple, drive your robot around the table you’re sitting at. However, not a single student was able to complete this challenge because when they would arrange their code and hit start either nothing would happen or a random series of moves. It wasn’t for about 20 minutes did we realize that when hitting start on codeiq.vex.com that the robot was running the last downloaded code instead of what was on the site.

Every time a student made a change to their code they had to hit download first then start in order for it to work. Is this behavior expected and or new? Last school year we did not have to ever do that.

You have to download the code, and then select it from the brain and hit run on the brain.

This has not always been the case though, is there a way to change that? I never taught any of my students how to use the download function last year.

Yes, they need to hit download first, so the code saves to the brain.

Download sends the code over.
Run triggers the selected slot to start.
They are two separate actions - Download doesn’t trigger Run, and Run doesn’t trigger Download.
