Yes, it has very specific uses, and “for fun” is not one of them.
This is normally the time of year when everone is forced to take a break from Vex. So with Nothing to do the casual conversation threads tend to flourish as there are no problems that need solving cause no one is at practice to have problems that need to be solved.
Why?
“Time with family” is just a euphemism for time with robot
There does come a point where things get to addicting, I mean while it is fun to chug red bull every night trying to code, it certainly isnt physically healthy. Sometimes the break is for the better so we dont spend so much time with a piece of moving metal then with the actual people around us.
A break is the time where we all put our tools aside and take a mental break so we can come back re energized for the road ahead of us.

Winter break is prime grind time 
It is good to see that people are thinking this way.
