Sort of, we chucked it in a lathe and just ran a handheld die down the length and finished the remaining part with a vise.
Iād reckon you could probably do it with a handheld drill.

What I had done is taken the fasteners (that go on the underside of the goal to hold the post in place) and put one on the top side and one on the bottom

I actually thought about doing this for a linear gear. If you need it to go shorter distances, just cut the gear in half and then it works half the time! It actually works I think!
Uh oh, so uh donāt look at some of my organizationās bots, I use rubber bands, and another team made a bag out of mesh.
If you have an alternative that works, thats great. Honestly the battery clips kinda suck so good job for finding something that works for you.
Bot on the left somehow got hooked to our robot on the right and nearly tipped our robot over sideways which is something I have yet to witness.
After which the resulting force of the bot falling back on it wheels rips the battery AND 3D PRINTED NUMBER PLATE HOLDER OFF.
For the remainder of the game we were playing with our battery hanging by its cable, hooked over a pneumatic tube, and somehow it made zero impact on the performance of our robot during the match. We won the tournament.

Edit: We played the rest of the tournament with both number plates triple rubber banded in place and we have printed brand new ones for worlds since the ones we used in that tournament were multiple years old at the time
