Custom V5 Telemetry Module

Thank you for the ping @kkaidenn!

I think one of the ways you can do something like this is to communicate over a serial connection to a Raspberry Pi Zero W or Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, which is around $15: https://www.microcenter.com/product/643085/raspberry-pi-zero-2-w

And you can buy a Micro USB to female USB for additional connections:

You will need two wifi antennas. The first one is to connect to the pi and the second is for the pi to connect to a network. The Zero/Zero 2 W has its own antenna, so you only need a single second antenna: USB WiFi Adapter for Raspberry Pi - The Pi Hut

Then, you can program the Raspberry Pi to enable a wifi hotspot: https://www.raspberrypi.com/tutorials/host-a-hotel-wifi-hotspot/

The code above is a good reference point for hot spot creation and connection. And this will let you program the robot while still being connected to the internet.

As for streaming from the V5 Brain, you can probably do Micro USB to Micro USB and stream data to the raspberry pi: Amazon.com: Maixbomr Micro USB Charging Data Cable, 1M/3.2FT USB 2.0 Micro USB Male to Micro USB Male Cable with OTG Feature, Compatible Cell Phone, Tablet, MP3 Player, Game Controller, Headset(2Pcs), Grey : Electronics

Some threads that might be useful on how to stream data over to the V5 Brain and vice versa:

For example code in real use, you can look at the code for VEX AI sending data over the Micro USB on the V5 Brain to the Jetson: VAIC_23_24/V5Example/ai_demo/src/ai_jetson.cpp at main · VEX-Robotics/VAIC_23_24 · GitHub

Here is Jetson’s example code on sending data over serial too:

You can use this information for the Raspberry Pi for 99% of the time.

Hopefully this helps!
