Have you SEEN the notebooks from female teams? A large portion of the time when I see a notebook from a female team they are filled with models, colored sketches, high detailed drawings, and even step by step procedure including code. Some of the best notebooks I have seen WERE by female teams.
Last year, there was only one girl powered team in the state and at one comp they won Excellence and Design award. (They were ranked 11th in both skills and qualifications)
Turns out that having all of those details gives you a really high score. Its in the rubric.

Its just the leftover implications of the post being yikes. Like boys not being in on the notebook and that girls should focus on the notebook because they’re naturally good at it. Its always lovely to see a team focus on something they enjoy and watch it succeed : )
I feel that Taran had a good summary of the undertones of Connor’s post, with “It sounds like he’s saying girls teams are good at notebooks, but in a way that implies that the common belief is that they aren’t.”
It’s a common stereotype that girls in VEX only do notebook, and an untrue one that many people would like to dispel, hence the yikes.
