Well we hit full court shots, but not with an adjustable hood. We just had varying speeds on our flywheel and made our own PID.
Good point. I was considering removing the adjustable hood and just change the velocity. But that leads to another question: should I use that motor for an indexer or a cap scraper/descorer or lift/descorer?
Iâll explain what we did, though it may or may not work for you guys:
1 motor roller intake
1 motor indexer
2 motor flywheel
4 motor drive
In the end itâs your choice, see what works best for you guys.
Changing a double shot by taking off a hood this close to worlds sounds like a really bad idea. If you want to attempt a 1 motor flywheel, you can try what 240P did on their High Quality robot. They used rubber links on their hood to help compress the ball more, thus making the shot feel harder opposed to not having it.
I would say if youâd a dedicated flag robot, then youâll be in the front of the field hitting flags so it wouldnât be worth your time to occasionally go back and de score a cab for it to only be put back up
Yup we were a cap bot at states since we werenât able to fix our catapult. Most teams would descore but we just put the cap back up.
I would recommend using that motor for a small 4 bar to lift caps.

So, a single shot puncher good for auton only or a descoring arm? Which would be most effective?
I would think a descoring arm would be better, but surely you can come up with a ratchet system to use one motor for both intake and punching.
(But, this close to Worlds, donât change what you have working.)
A single use puncher vs. describing arm confuses me in concept. If you donât have a system to shoot, you surely have a cap placement system. (Especially if youâre going to Worlds)
If that cap system canât descore in some way shape or form, then itâs probably not a great cap system. (Just saying)
By that logic, this said robot can already descore caps, but not shoot, leading me to believe that a single use puncher with one extra motor would be worthwhile, especially if you can come up with a ratchet system to use one motor for both intake and shooting.

The robot can place. Single shooter is currently in use. Late to be modifying too much. Canât have bothe descorer and shooter at this point. Thatâs why I was asking for feedback. Thanks for replying!
We have a motor that we are able to swap between the indexer and the descorer. This works well but we are cortex based so motors arenât as important.
