Hey VEX World! Just working on my team’s (34801A) Notebook,
And I was wondering certain aspects I can add, I already have our meet the team page but I was hoping to get a few pointers from you all!
Definitely make some pages about what your team’s goal is with the notebook, and work with them to document how the game works, important rules in the manual, etc. Also, other teams’ notebooks can be very helpful. Look over other teams’ notebooks that are posted online together and see how they answer the rubric.

The notebook is like my favorite thing to do when I’m not working on the robot!

Make sure that your notebook includes things like the daily log, the goals that you hope to achieve, the overview of the manual and the rules that you want to focus on (or things like advantages that are stated in the video or manual… psst, no possession limit of any color is a pretty good advantage), put the designs of the robot, and most importantly!! Put the designs that you didn’t pick! The things you failed! Teams usually seem to ignore that part but it was part of their design process!!
Also, remember that the notebook is a TEAM EFFORT!

Guide to Judging: Judging Engineering Notebooks – REC Library It details in depth about criteria for the notebook, and what judges look for.
Also keep in mind of the rubric while you document your team’s journey throughout the EDP. It lists what you actually need.

Other tips are to document regularly; go in depth about how you developed your robot, and why. Do a game overview, tournament reflection, etc. I haven’t judged, but I have heard from others and read about this topic. Judges want to read about your thought process; they don’t want to just see a picture of a robot.
You especially want to include aspects such as your code and CAD models if possible. A lot of teams (especially IQ) don’t code or notebook too much about it; doing so will give you an advantage I believe.

I recommend a page full of the math of each gear ratio you have on your robot.
Umm I disagree. Having a full page of math doesn’t show anything. Instead make sure to have an explanation to go along side the math to make it more clear so that the judges actually know what’s going on.
Let me rephrase that; i mean like an organized graph of the gear ratios allowing the judges to see the speed of each gear and an explanation. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
