Opened this thread to discuss the specifics about how and what data the distance sensor gathers.
I know the sensor senses in a cone, but does it return the shortest distance in said cone, the longest or some median value? Can this cone be limited in any way?
Almost like this information could be found elsewhere: https://kb.vex.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050696511-Using-the-V5-Distance-Sensor
The V5 Distance Sensorās measurement range is 20 millimeters (mm) to 2,000 millimeters (mm) (0.79 inch to 78.74 inches). Below 200 millimeters (mm) the accuracy is approximately +/ā15 millimeters (mm); above 200 millimeters (mm) the accuracy is approximately 5%.
To clarify my question, I am not looking for the accuracy of a distance sensor. I wondering what part of the VSCEL Laser FOV is the distance sensor getting the measurement from? If it sees multiple distances within its 24 degree FOV which does it report back?
Below is the source of aforementioned FOV.
