I am currently preparing for our nationals in vex iq rapid relay. I want to check if adding prototypes of our notebook would affect our mark negatively or positively or not at all. Would it be needed as we don’t have the resources to make physical prototypes but I had already made CAD prototypes when building the robot. Would it be helpful for our notebook or would it affect us negatively? Below is one of the prototypes I had made form SnapCAD:
I think CAD will positivally affect your notebook. I’m not a judge, but seeing CAD modals help me understand the team’s robot better.
I think CADs are a great addition to the notebook! Using them can show your engineering design process from Point A i.e. the cad you sent pictures of to Point (i.e.) D talking about the differences and strengths through the progression of your designs.
On the left is the criterion and on the right is the explanation of what should be in the notebook for full points. A labeled diagram would certainly help your notebook.

A labeled diagram certainly would help, but its not necessary. Its easier to do a 3d design on paper or make online designs with google drawings. Thats what my team is. Whats important is citations of your ideas.
oh yea, forgot to mention, you might want to have cads of your actual bot plan, not just a drivetrain!
