My team just built the hero bot because our sponsor wants us to build it before designing our bot for the competition, and after building it i’m confused about how the top axel is supposed to rotate when its being powered by two sprockets with different gear ratios on the same axel from the same axel? I know the wheel on the end it supposed to spin fast for the rollers on the side, and that the claw is supposed to move much slower so there is higher torque, but I see no way and after testing have found no way to make the top axel spin without sawing it in half and adding extra support so they are both supported at 2 points. If anyone has any idea how this is supposed to work of if we are just being dumb it would be much appreciated.
You can find videos from vex that show all things about the hero bot. The first one is already out! Hero bot video. The answer to your question about the top axel is that the wheel has a circle insert in it. That allows for it to spin separately from the top axel while being on the axel.
Yeah, I have the same issue when building the flex hero bot.
