Elevation mechanism

Hi,
Im just looking for elevation mechanisms that don’t require any motors or pneumatics. We do have a blocker, so maybe something off of that?
Thanks for the help!

Hello

Alright first off, I have to do my due diligence:

TL;DR Don’t ask the forum for ideas

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.

For design ideas which involve a passive hang, I can think of two things that you might want to do. If you have a catapult, you can do an ace style hang off of the catapult. Note: you would need a catapult ratchet for this to work effectively. The alternative would be to do the same thing, but keep it up the whole time and use rubber banding. I can elaborate if you would like. This comes with the caveat that you can only drive one way under the barrier.

parking on the bar? I have seen some teams drive fast onto the bar, maybe with the help of some sleds on the front of their robot, and land on a triball that they positioned during the match. The rules say that triballs are irrevalent when considering elevation, so if you put the back of your chassis on the long barrier and the front perched on a triball, you are elevated.
This would take a lot of practice driving, but I have seen it done.

I may have a really unique design for a B-tier hanging meach that could be pretty simple. So my hanging mech is completely passive and how it works is my launcher will lift up and then my hanging arm will be at the height to hang. The arm is rubberbanded down enough to lift the robot and held by high-strength axles. When the robot runs into the bar the axles will move out from under the arm and hang the robot.

Here are some photos please don’t hole count.

here is a blurry example of this working

This mechanism is completely passive and uses no positions or motors to hang other than the one piston that lifts the launcher.

Be aware if you try to build this it needs to be very strong, triangle bracing, high strength axles, or steel.
