Ending double zone while under the goal

Hey, so this year we made a small, compact robot so it can fit under the goal. After we did this, we noticed that other teams began to scrap this idea. After wondering why and doing some rulebook research, we saw section SG8. This states that a double zone can be ended by touching the long bar. What happens if the double zone ends while we are under the goal? Would it be a DQ? If so, that would technically be forcing another team into a penalty, right? Do we have like 2 seconds to move out of the goal? Really confused and could use some input.

Good job doing your homework and reading the manual! I can see how you might have some confusion, but notes under SG8 really emphasize that descoring is a defensive action and you will get NO benefit of the doubt. This means that if you are stuck under someone’s goal when they are not descoring, it is your responsibility to get out while abiding by SG8. Can you see what I’m saying?

As a team with a fairly successfull flatbot, (274 skills) I can tell you for a fact that the rulings for descoring are very strict. You have to be fast. If the double zone ends while you are under, it is an instant violation.

How often does the ability to go under the goal come into use? Have you found that ability to be game changing or useful? Do you think it’s worth it to continue improving our current design, or go for a bigger build that utilizes more space?

We rareley get to use the descoring ability, but its mostly mind games, because it makes people never want to double zone. However, in the instances where we use it, we can absoluteley use it to extreme advantage, winning our semi-finals match because of it.
