Hello, me and my team recently were wondering about potential robot designs for late game, and considered a design that drives into the leg of the long goal. Basically a U-Shaped drivetrain that would go on either side of the leg and then stop about halfway through the bot. Would this be infringing on entanglement rules, or in fact any rules? GG14 doesnt describe the interaction of the bot with elements very well, and the wording of the definition of entanglement seems to make it sound like it has to grab, hook, or attatch to the goal for it to be illegal. Does this count? There would be no mechanism to lock it around the back, but it would make it practically impossible to move the bot off the goal by pushing it from the side. This sounds illegal, but i cant tell. And finally, would the rules be different for something like the middle goal? Because i see teams that make middle goal alligners and really can’t be pushed from the side, such as 1010G’s bot. Thanks, and sorry if i neglected to think of an obvious rule.
And i realize i forgot to mention GG9. This still has me confused on where the line is drawn. By its wording that “Strategies with mechanisms that react against multiple sides of a Field Element in an effort to latch or hook onto said Field Element are prohibited.” It seems like its about intent, and if it wasnt, then how would the aforementioned center goal allignment system be allowed?
